Fairmont offers a broad spectrum of educational opportunities including Fairmont Area Public Schools – PreK-12th grade – where students have comprehensive educational opportunities in academics, arts and athletics.

In addition, Fairmont has two parochial schools. St Paul’s Lutheran (PreK-8th grade) a Missouri Lutheran parochial school and St. John Vianney Catholic School (Prek – 6th Grade).

Fairmont Community Education and Recreation– CER’s mission is to provide lifelong, learning and leisure opportunities for all ages. We are here to help make Fairmont the best it can be by partnering with other community organizations, non-profits, educational institutions, and the City of Fairmont.

Granada Huntley East Chain is a small community school committed to excellence in technology, academics, leadership, and extracurricular activities in which everyone matters.

Martin County West, a consolidated district comprised of the former Sherburn-Dunnell, Trimont and Welcome School Districts established in 1988.

A Christian day school, St. James Lutheran School serves the academic, spiritual, and bodily needs of children of Martin, Faribault, and Watonwan Counties in Minnesota as well communities in northern Iowa. Located in the City of Northrop, St. James Lutheran School is midway between Fairmont and Truman on Minnesota Highway 15.

St. Paul’s Lutheran School offers a diverse curriculum including Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Health, Computer Instruction, Religion, Music, Art and Physical Education. The full academic curriculum is taught from a Christian perspective with the criteria of excellence and is offered for grades Preschool through Grade 8.

Like no other high school in southern Minnesota, Martin Luther High School, Northrop is a leader in bringing Christ into the lives of teenagers while providing them with an exemplary education and a variety of extra-curricular activities–all of which prepares teens for successful lives as Christian adult leaders.

Presentation College offers college classes with various degrees available in Fairmont.

Presentation College Fairmont Campus offers students cutting edge education as well as broad based education which sharpens critical thinking skills and, most importantly, character. At Presentation College students and faculty members collaborate in their learning. Instead of large lecture halls where students are taught at, Presentation College works with our students to engage them with the material.

Our Campus contains nursing and allied health labs, chemistry/biology labs, computer lab, cadaver lab and classrooms along with quiet study rooms, and a Learning Center for tutoring and testing. Students find “no wait list” to enter one of our programs in nursing, psychology, radiologic technology, medical assisting and surgical technology. Students can get involved in one of our clubs or student activities offered during the academic year.

Since 2003, Presentation College-Fairmont Campus has made higher education in a local setting convenient for the residents of Fairmont, Martin County, and southwest Minnesota. Truman Public Schools, an independent school district who offers classes in grades K-12. All students attend classes right here in the community, with the elementary in the east wings and the high school in the west wings.

The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) designated Truman Elementary School a Reward School for (2014, 2015 & 2016)! Reward schools represent the highest-performing Title I schools based on results of the Multiple Measurement Rating (MMR). As a Reward School, Truman Elementary School is in the top 15 percent of Title I schools in the state. This designation reflects the gains Truman Elementary has made in proficiency, growth and reducing the achievement gap. The Elementary School staff identified areas of past concern and worked to address the needs of students through interventions and adjustments to curriculum.

The Southern Minnesota Educational Campus (SMEC) is a one-stop shop for post-secondary education providing an assortment of college courses and degree programs offered by public and private religious-based secondary institutions in the region.

Distance learning is a offered from campuses throughout the nation. Programs may be available to cover any remaining tuition and general fee charges after the student’s Federal Pell Grant and MN State Grant have been applied to the student’s account.
