About the Fairmont Area Life project
Encouraging people to relocate to Martin County MN
The Fairmont Area Life project rooted from a City of Fairmont committee. Formed in the mid-2000s, projects centered around connecting with those who graduated locally, then moved away. Stakeholders are comprised of businesses, city government and chamber of commerce.
A grant from Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation was acquired in the fall of 2015 spurred marketing, publicity and outreach that included this website and social media campaigns. Other funding came from local businesses and Americas Best Communities. The focus is based upon research conducted by Benjamin Winchester, Senior Research Fellow at University of Minnesota Center for Community Vitality.
“I really enjoyed moving to Fairmont because I love the water, I love boating. I think there are a lot more recreational activities than what I was used to.” ~Sarah Gerhard, New Resident 2017
